Petrichor!
In drought-stricken Texas, rain clouds never looked so good! Have you smelled petrichor, that aromatic smell from the ground when it rains for the first time after a long dry spell? Taken with my mobile phone.

At My Sister's Farm Through My Brother's Eyes
I miss my sisters and brothers. There is always an empty space in my heart...
I even miss the family grave where my parents' remains lay buried.

Gray Summer
June 22, 2009
I love New York.
It is so private and intimate.
The place is overrun with people
who don't give a damn.
So you are free to be yourself.
Brooklyn on the left.

Sift
Two friends and a young man died this week.
I saw a friend today.
She saw the view from my window
And I saw the view from her window.
She liked mine.
I liked hers.
I said, may I have your picture
And you may have mine.
She said, they are from the same window.
I said, yours is blazing and afire.
She said, I like yours, it's stormy.
We looked out of the same window.
We saw two views.
I saw a friend today.
She saw the view from my window
And I saw the view from her window.
She liked mine.
I liked hers.

And you may have mine.
She said, they are from the same window.
I said, yours is blazing and afire.
She said, I like yours, it's stormy.
We looked out of the same window.
We saw two views.

Afire!
Hurricane Ike, around 5PM before the sky turned red and then purple and then violet and finally black.
More Hurricane Ike clouds.
Why is it that the brightest and most colorful are the most destructive?

Charcoal
The evening
before
Hurricane Ike landfall,
the children
came in to the house
screaming.
"MOM!!! COME OUT! THE SKY HAS TURNED CHARCOAL!!!"
I came out
and it was completely black.
It was
hauntingly scary
yet exciting.

Happy Trails
I have never been on a roller coaster.
I thought I would die if I ever got on one.
Oh well, look at me now.
I am still alive.
Land ho!

Who Are You?
Today.
You broke the chandelier.
You broke the window.
You broke my heart.
Again.
You broke my daughter's heart.
Who are you?

The Eclipse
Like the sky at night, dark.
Like the moon above, eclipsed.
The road ahead is foggy,
Or is it my head?
Sun, where are you?
Burn the fog and light the way, please!

Shine Through
I know you are there.
Stop hiding.
Come out.
Shine through.
You are wonderful.
You are terrific.
You.
I love you.
Stop hiding.
Come out.
Shine through.
You are wonderful.
You are terrific.
You.
I love you.

My Young Lovely Witch
My dearest lovely young witch,
Thou art beautiful.
Nothing can obscure your brilliance.
You don't have to look far for your mother.
Look within,
She lives in you.
She never left.
Good morning!

Afire
This was the sunset the evening before Hurricane Ike landfall. Today is the second anniversary of Hurricane Ike landfall in Texas. It was the third costliest hurricane in the US history. Below are some sky photos of Hurricane Ike.

2 Miles
This was a phone camera photograph of the 2 mile lake walk that my husband, our beloved dog Daisy and I take every evening. Five times around the lake is 2 miles. We do extra rounds after the 2 mile minimum. The sky looks so much better in real time.
